Apparently shut down due to an alleged medical malpractice 20 years ago, this hospital was the perfect candidate for me to take a day trip down to Tainan, Taiwan, for some urban exploration. As we entered it was clear we weren’t the first visitors it had received. Prescription drugs, lay scattered across tables and floors, while others remained unopened. Broken syringes crunched underfoot and bottles of formaldehyde still kept their mysterious contents. The wind followed us inside, slamming random doors and causing the peeling wallpaper to dance. It was a spooky place to say the least.

Kyoto, the former imperial capital of Japan, is a colourful and vibrant ancient city that gives you a realistic view of what Japan is really about.
It is dedicated to preserving Japan’s oldest traditions, yet it still feels like a dynamic and contemporary city. The streets were filled fine dining and women in Kimonos, and if you’re lucky while you’re there you’ll get the chance to see a Geisha walking down a cobblestone road before she jumps into a taxi on her way to her next destination. With over 2000 unique temples and shrines, or the breathtakingly beautiful Bamboo Forest, you can easily keep busy while visiting this exciting city.
As we arrived in Kôyasan, Japan, it felt as if we had the place to ourselves.
Situated on a small plain at the top of Mount Kôya is the sacred area known as the Danjô Garan, a complex of temples, halls, pagodas and Buddhist statuary that welcomes visitors to this hallowed place.
Surrounded by a thick forest of massive cedars, the area known as Okunoin is a vast cemetery that seemed to go on for days and is a unique setting that features the mausolea of numerous famous Japanese.
